Low res pic of JIADA FISH (Bass version)

The super creatively named "SINGING FISH" is a cheaply made knockoff of the horrifying"BIG MOUTH BILLY BASS" fish we hate so much. It even sings low quality versions of Billy Bass's songs: "Take Me To The River", by Talking Heads, and a cover of Bobby McFerrin's "Don't Worry, Be Happy" performed by The Hit Crew.
  • "SINGING FISH" was manufactured by Guangdong JiaDa Electronic Technology Holdings Co.,Ltd (they now manufacture cheap ragdolls.)

Despite it being a cheap bootleg, I kinda want it.

"SINGING FISH" is a classic example of a "Chinafake", a Chinese knockoff bootleg manufactured to try and cash in on the current trend without making it any more unique and creative compared to the original, often produced in sweatshops, where workers manufacture products under poor conditions and many health risks. Ok I went a bit too deep.
  • "SINGING FISH" was mostly sold in South America, Europe and Asia. The "Alligator" variant was sold in Russia amongst many other European and Asian countries. The swordfish was sold in Argentina and other South American countries and possibly also European countries. The existence of the Lobster and Shark versions hasn't been confirmed yet, and were most likely discarded prototypes.

Another stock image of the Bass version...

  • "SINGING FISH" is obviously a singing fish mounted on a plaque. The latex body of the fish is stretched across a plastic mechanism, and mounted to a plastic plaque, giving the illusion of a proper taxidermy trophy fish.
  • The plaque isn't all that different from a BILLY BASS plaque. In fact, it has the same shape and placement of the adapter jack, nameplate. the button and the motion sensor. The only change done to the plaque is the fake painted wood grain, which in my opinion looks a bit cooler than the wood grain of BILLY BASS's plaque. Also the same wood grain of Jiada fish is used on the plaque of a certain 'variant of the "BIG MOUTH RAINBOW TROUT" singing fish. Hmmm... (insert thinking emoji here)
  • There are actually 4 known variants of "SINGING FISH":
    1. Largemouth Bass (closest resemblance to Billy Bass; Billy Bass skin mold)
    2. Shark (uses the Jaws skin)
    3. Swordfish (Sammy Swordfish skin)
    4. Crocodile. (Croc O Rock skin)
  • The Bass variant is the "easiest" to find, and it most closely resembles BILLY BASS.
  • The Bass version (and presumably other versions) can be found with two different nameplate color schemes:
    1. White text on blue nameplate (more common)
    2. Black text on gold nameplate(virtually none of us collectors have the gold nameplate variant)
  • The Crocodile variant actually has "SINGING CROCODILE" written on the nameplate and there’s an “alligator” and singing fish nameplate variants as well.
  • The Crocodile and Swordfish variant do exist, but the existence of the Shark version isn't confirmed yet... At least.
  • A variant with the "BIG MOUTH HONEY BASS" (not to be confused with SINGING HONEY BASS) circuit exists. It can be differentiated from the normal version by its head movement. And was sold on South America and Canada.

FUNCTIONALITY[]

  • "SINGING FISH" can either be powered from 4 "C" batteries or from a center positive DC 6 volt adapter. Due to the cheap constructon of this particular animatronic fish, it is not recommended to run it from an adapter as it may damage electronic components and potentially cause a fire. It is also advised not to leave bateries in there, just in case.
  • "SINGING FISH" can be activated by pressing the red button or by engaging the motion sensor, just like every other singing fish out there.
  • "SINGING FISH" sings rather low quality versions of BILLY BASS's songs: "Take Me to The River", by Talking Heads, and a cover of Bobby McFerrin's "Don't Worry, be Happy" performed by The Hit Crew.
  • The movement of "SINGING FISH" is quite lazily programmed. The tail moves at random speeds (which makes it more realistic TBH) and the mouth isn't even synced up with the words. It's still a cool fish nonetheless.
  • The fish, since it's a BILLY BASS knockoff, obviously uses a standard BILLY BASS - type mechanism. That makes this fish very repairable, and if the mechanism gets somehow destroyed, a BILLY BASS can be "sacrificed" in order to repair "SINGING FISH".
